H2O Today

It finally rained today. Not only did it rain, it was a complete downpour. I was caught off guard when coming out of Beverly’s Craft Store, my window was down. I hate that. Don’t get me wrong; I love the rain. I love the cold, grey days of fall and winter, but I hate being caught off guard in a weather situation!
Now that it is getting chilly, I find often myself huddled up in a blanket on the couch reading or making a clumsy attempt at crocheting. I now have two scarves waiting to be finished and it seems like completion isn’t in the near future. Calculating in the fact that I am a complete novice, the fact that I usually have to start over on a project at least five times, and my general frustration for finding the chains that I have crocheted too tightly all push an end even further away. But it’s fun. I don’t really know why. It’s like playing those stupid flash games or mindsweeper on the computer, but instead of telling yourself ‘just one more level’, it’s ‘just one more row’.
I also have been obsessively using the search feature on Flickr to look at other people’s crafty attempts. After seeing a cute picture of children’s scarves made out of felt, I was inspired to make my six year old sister (yes, a bit of an age gap, I know) a felt scarf. I proceeded to Beverly’s Craft Store and bought chocolate brown felt and French Kitty fabric. I wanted to embroider her initials at the bottom, but I’ve yet to learn how to embroider. The reason is because every book on embroidery that I’ve come across is confusing as hell. So today I bought a kid’s book on embroidery. Much easier! Why don’t the adult books make it this simple?
I’m now confident that I will have a cute French Kitty scarf to give to my little sister come Christmas. Who knows if I get crafty with anyone else’s gift. I doubt I’ll have the skill or time by then.
