About Me

On the day of my birth, I was given a nickname. It was right about the same time that the hit movie, “The Goonies” came to theatres. My mom said she held me in her arms and said “This is my little Goonie”. So I was dubbed. This may be an exaggerated tale, I sure don’t remember how it all went. But I do know that all throughout my life I had been called Goonie…or some form of goonie: “Goonie bird”, “Goonie monster”, “the Goonster”, etc. I didn’t always like it. I remember trying to keep it a secret from all my friends. I think my friend Jessica was the first to discover my nickname and she even still mockingly calls me Goonie to this day. I guess I’ve grown to love it. It’s who I am.
Apparently there is a definition for the word, and I guess it fits me kinda well.
Goonie: Goonie Is a new social class for all of us who cant find what we are. Goonie can be a mix of geek and prep, geek and punk. In short we are the outcast of the outcast. Goonie is far from Emo and Gothic. If you find your self being outcasted because you are a geek, punk, prep combined into one person then you are a Goonie.{Goonie} You are goonie if you enjoy fantasy, scfi, science, art and history. Goonies can dress punk, prep and/or geek.
I found this from here. There are tons of definitions listed, but I liked this one the best. I do NOT like number nine.

Hello Taryn,
what a wonderful website you have here. I was looking through my old yearbooks the other day and remembered you. we used to be friends at LVMS. I looked you up to see if you had a myspace, but it came up with your website. Love the pictures.
